Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines the football scholarship of his family and service in the local community. In the first place, he was raised by Lucious Selmon and Jessie on their Eufala farm. He was their youngest of nine children. He played second in football and was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. All three made All-America. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman in the nation. The three seasons he was an offensive lineman, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and secured two national championships. Selmon received a third scholarship in 1975, and was named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering during college. He returned to Tampa after college, played as a member of the Buccaneers for nine seasons and made three times all-pro. The business venture he started began. In 1988, he joined the ranks of an account manager for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one among America's best young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in his height and weighed 256 lbs as a college player he played for the 1975 team. He was promoted to an associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. In 1988 He was elected into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into it into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
